Coaches:
Head Coach: Vaughn Van Dame
Associate Head Coach: Alec Horne
Alec Horne is joining the Salt River Scorpions Staff as the Associate Head Coach and Director of Recruiting. Horne has spent the past eleven seasons working as a football coach, most recently for the Gila River Hawks. He was the Recruiting Coordinator and the Running Backs Coach for the 2019 and 2020 seasons helping Gila River win back to back Hohokam Junior College Athletic Conference Championships and finish as one of the nation's top Junior College programs in the country. Horne will bring the passion and energy he has for the HJCAC along with valuable experience in recruiting and team operations both on and off the field. Previously Horne served as the Running Backs Coach for Williams Field High School from 2016-2018 winning a 5A State Championship in 2016 and contributed to a coaching staff that won three region championships in a row. In 2015 Horne served as a Defensive Line Coach at Horizon and was the Defensive Coordinator for a local Pop Warner team known as the Northeast Rage. From 2013-2015, Horne served in various capacities at Mohave High School including: Strength and Conditioning Coordinator, Junior Varsity Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator and also was the Head Wrestling Coach being one of the youngest in the state with that role. Horne began his coaching career as a JV Line coach for Campo Verde High School from 2010-2013.
